Hello friends,
I wanted to take a moment to share a heartwarming update from our latest Food Pantry event in May. Despite it being a holiday weekend, our incredible team, along with the support of the community, came together to make a significant impact. We were able to provide food to 74 families, thanks to the dedication of 20 volunteers, three prospective members, and over 30 sisters from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.
The success of our food pantry truly reflects the power of teamwork and community spirit. Our Omega Psi Phi class of '24 did an outstanding job with the food pick-up from the Greater Boston Food Bank, completing the task in record time. Their efficiency ensured that we had all the necessary supplies ready to serve those in need.
A special shout out goes to Doug Carroll, one of our volunteers, who helped to bring in volunteers from Bristol Myers Squibb. Not only did this boost our volunteer numbers, but it also sparked conversations about potential funding for the OMIA Food Pantry. Doug's initiative could lead to substantial support for our future efforts, helping us serve even more families in need.
One of the highlights of the month was our collaboration with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated’s Boston Alumni Chapter. Their presence and assistance were invaluable, and it was wonderful to see the fellowship between our organizations. The chapter president and several members expressed their heartfelt gratitude for our hospitality, reinforcing the importance of unity in community service.
As we look forward to our next Food Pantry on June 22nd, I’m filled with hope and excitement. Every bit of support, whether through volunteering or donations, plays a crucial role in making these events possible. Your dedication and generosity help us build a stronger, more compassionate community.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we’re making a real difference.
Best regards,
Eric
